The Flyers and Hayes will continue to talk after a quick visit

Frank Seravalli: Sounding like Kevin Hayes was impressed with his meeting/visit with the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Flyers will have their work cut out, but money talks.

From understanding, the Flyers are not at the top of Hayes’ list, but that can always change. believes Hayes’ could be intrigued by the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Arizona Coyotes.

Sam Carchidi: Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher on his meeting with Kevin Hayes: “good dialogue with Kevin and his agent. I will continue to speak with them over the coming days.”

If Kessel isn’t going to be traded, who else could join the rumor mill

TSN: Pierre LeBrun said that he won’t force a Phil Kessel trade to a team on Kessel’s list of eight teams.

“Because he’s not getting maximum return in that scenario, Rutherford made it public to The Athletic in Pittsburgh that we’re happy keeping Phil Kessel. We’re not just trying to dump this guy. They were ready to make a real trade, but if that’s not there and he’s not waiving to go to Minnesota, they will keep Phil Kessel. We’ll see. This may be Kessel’s decision at the end of the summer if he’d be willing to waive.”

Darren Dreger adds that if the Penguins aren’t going to trade Kessel, they will move someone else out as they won’t enter next season with the same look.

“There’s some speculation that veteran defenceman Kris Letang may potentially be in play. He’s got the modified no-trade clause, he’s got the no-move clause. He’s got three years remaining (in his contract) and a big cap hit of $7.25 million. So there could be interest in Letang. I would say this, with the exception of Sidney Crosby, Rutherford is willing to listen on just about everyone.”

Panthers looking to add talent but won’t mortgage the future

Mike Zeisberger of NHL.com: Q & A with Florida Panthers GM Dale Tallon.

On if he’ll be looking to add talent through free agency, the draft or trade?

“All of the above. Whatever we can to get better without jeopardizing our future. The key is how we handle that and what’s the right fit moving forward.”

Tallon said their even strength scoring wasn’t good and that their defense and goaltending need to improve.
