OTTAWA – Jack Matier, Luca Pinelli and Frankie Marrelli each scored two goals to power the Ottawa 67’s to a 7-0 drubbing of the Oshawa Generals on Thursday to open the OHL playoffs.

Brady Stonehouse added the other for Ottawa (51-12-3-2), which took a 1-0 series lead.

Collin MacKenzie delivered a 16-save shutout.

Jacob Oster stopped 49 shots for Oshawa (26-36-1-5).

Ottawa went 3-of-8 on the power play and peppered Oster and the Generals with 56 shots.

WINDSOR, Ont. — Reid Valade scored two goals, Francesco Pinelli added a goal and two assists and the Kitchener Rangers picked up a big 5-3 series-opening win over the Windsor Spitfires.

Adrian Misaljevic and Trent Swick provided the rest of the offence for Kitchener (33-29-6). Marco Costantini made 29 saves.

Anthony Cristoforo, Shane Wright and Brett Harrison answered for Windsor (44-18-4-2), which finished atop the Western Conference in the regular season. Joey Costanzo stopped 34-of-38 shots.

BARRIE, Ont. — Brandt Clarke, Tai York, Declan McDonnell and Beau Jelsma each scored a pair of goals and the Barrie Colts took a resounding 10-2 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Tyler Savard and Jacob Frasca netted the others for Barrie (42-17-6-3). Anson Thornton made 22 saves.

Lucas Moore and Noah Nelson scored for Hamilton (33-30-5). Tristan Malboeuf gave up four goals on 17 shots before Matteo Drobac surrendered six on 27 shots in 38:51 of relief.

SAGINAW, Mich. — Joey Willis and Zayne Parekh each scored twice as the Saginaw Spirit pummelled the Flint Firebirds 7-1.

Mitchell Smith, Hunter Haight and Michael Misa added the others for Saginaw (36-27-3-2). Tristan Lennox made 34 saves.

Riley Piercey had the lone goal for Flint (35-28-4-1). Nathan Day surrendered four goals on 10 shots before making way for Will Cranley, who stopped 7-of-10 shots in 34:02 of action.

Peterborough leads best-of-seven series 1-0

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Avery Hayes and Jonathan Melee scored two goals apiece in leading the Peterborough Petes to a 4-2 win over the Sudbury Wolves.

Michael Simpson made 26 saves for Peterborough (35-29-2-2).

Matthew Mania and Quentin Musty replied for Sudbury (31-28-6-3). Kevyn Brassard stopped 34-of-36 shots.
