Mike McIntyre: The Winnipeg Jets should check in with the Dallas Stars if they are shopping defenseman Julius Honka and see what they are looking for.
The Jets should also be checking in with the Edmonton Oilers and seeing what the cost is for forward Jesse Puljujarvi.
Both Honka and Puljujarvi could be good fits for the Jets.

Hurricanes still waiting on Williams … Could use some toughness up front
Luke DeCock of the Raleigh News & Observer: The Carolina Hurricanes are waiting for winger Justin Williams to decide whether he’ll play next season or retire. They are expecting him to be back next season, but he’s not commenting on the matter yet.
The Hurricanes could use his off-ice leadership. Adding Erik Haula and Ryan Dzingel would allow Williams to slide back to the third line.
With Micheal Ferland leaving, the Hurricanes could use a bit of toughness up front.
The battle for Petr Mrazek‘s backup will involve James Reimer, Anton Forsberg and Alex Nedeljkovic.
Kings had spoken with the Oilers and Coyotes
Dennis Bernstein of The Fourth Period: Around draft time the Los Angeles Kings were working on some trades that would have impacted their roster.
The Kings talked to the Edmonton Oilers about winger Jesse Puljujarvi but the Kings would have had to take on the remaining four years of Milan Lucic‘s contract. has heard that the Oilers coach Dave Tippett likes winger Matt Luff, so he may have been included along with a draft pick.
The Kings are believed to talked to the Arizona Coyotes about a deal involving Jeff Carter and Alex Goligoski. Goligoski has two years left, compared to Carter’s three, and the Coyotes would save on the cash side of things – $9.8 million compared to $7 million.
