Canadiens interest in Honka
Marc Dumont of The Athletic: There have been reports that the Montreal Canadiens are interested in Dallas Stars defenseman Julius Honka.
The Canadiens do have Jeff Petry and Shea Weber in their top four, with Christian Folin, Noah Juulsen, Cale Fleury and Josh Brook fighting for the third-pair.
The Stars may be looking for a mid-round pick for Honka according to Sean Shapiro. Some have said the Canadiens would rather send a player than a pick.
The Canadiens are at 48 of 50 contracts.

The Lightning are hopeful that a team will come calling for him before the start of the season.
Point talks are moving very slowly
Mike Johnston of Sportsnet: Brayden Point‘s agent Gerry Johansson
“Well, we’re talking, I guess is the good news,” Johannson told Sportsnet 650 on Thursday. “We’re a ways apart right now. Like I say all the time, you can do a deal in a day if you’re so inclined. Things can move quickly but we’re not that close frankly.”
The sides continue to try and find a middle ground. Johannson is a little surprised that things have dragged on this far.
“We’ve been sort of ready to go since last July,” he said of negotiations. “It’s just I’m a little surprised we’re this far apart this late, but on the other hand every negotiation is a bit different and there’s different pressures and different circumstances and all sorts of different things.”
The Tampa Bay Lightning have about $8.4 million in cap space. Point’s camp is open to either a short- or long-term deal. He added that contract negotiations are a “very, very slow tennis game,”
