Renaud Lavoie: “The @NYRangers will get picks and a AHL player in return of Namestnikov. His salary ($4M) vs what he brings to the team explain why the Rangers decided to make the move. New start can help Namestnikov.”
Adam Gretz: “He went from skating next to Stamkos and Kucherov to getting passed around to different rebuilding teams in a short period of time.”
Adam Gretz: “Also why is Ottawa trading draft picks.”
Charlie O’Connor: “That Namestnikov trade is funny because it’s between Team That Claims To Want To Compete In 2019-20 & Team That Is Clearly Punting 2019-20… and it’s the latter team that is giving up future assets and the former that is selling a rental.”
