The Charlotte Checkers have signed veteran forward Jamie McGinn to a professional tryout contract.
McGinn, 31, has skated in 617 National Hockey League games over an 11-year pro career with San Jose, Colorado, Buffalo, Anaheim, Arizona and Florida, recording 117 goals and 103 assists for 220 points.
McGinn has also skated in 120 games in the AHL with Worcester and Springfield, totaling 38 goals and 41 assists for 79 points.
A native of Fergus, Ont., McGinn was the Sharks’ second-round pick in the 2006 NHL Draft.
