Panthers acquire Rodewald from Ottawa

The Florida Panthers have acquired forward Jack Rodewald from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for the rights to forward Chris Wilkie.

Rodewald has been assigned to the Panthers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds.

Rodewald, 25, is scoreless in six games with the AHL’s Belleville Senators so far this season. He set career highs with 23 goals, 24 assists, 47 points and a plus-13 rating in 59 games for Belleville in 2018-19.

A native of Calgary, Alta., Rodewald has skated in 209 career AHL games with Belleville, Binghamton and Toronto, totaling 55 goals and 46 assists for 101 points.

Rodewald has appeared in 10 NHL games, all with Ottawa.

Wilkie, 23, was a sixth-round pick by Florida in the 2015 NHL Draft. He is currently in his senior season at Colorado College.
