Binnington vs. ‘Bieber’ was no contest in NHL all-star skills showdown

ST. LOUIS—Hometown hero Jordan Binnington was a winner in Friday night’s NHL all-star skills competition, in the save streak event that included a surprising twist.

Binnington, who helped the St. Louis Blues win the Stanley Cup in the spring, stopped 10 shots in a row to win the all-star event and deadpanned afterwards that he “expected more.”

He probably didn’t expect what was coming from Tomas Hertl. The San Jose Sharks forward donned a Justin Bieber mask for his attempt — which Binnington stopped — weeks after Binnington challenged the Canadian pop star to a breakaway competition.

Given how locked in Binnington was, he probably would’ve stopped the Biebs, too.
