WHL Roundup: Dowhaniuk’s late goal leads Oil Kings past Hurricanes 2-1

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. – Logan Dowhaniuk’s goal late in the third period lifted the Edmonton Oil Kings over the Lethbridge Hurricanes 2-1 on Wednesday in Western Hockey League action.

Dowhaniuk scored with 2:18 left to play to seal the win.

Jalen Luypen had a short-handed goal with one second left in the second period for Edmonton (2-1-0).

Sebastian Cossa made 23 saves for the win in net.

Yegor Klavdiev replied for Lethbridge (2-1-0), while Bryan Thomson stopped 27 shots in net.

Neither team scored on the power play. The Oil Kings were 0 for 2 with the man advantage and the Hurricanes were 0 for 4.

ICE 5, PATS 2

WINNIPEG — Zachary Benson had a pair of goals as the Ice skated past Regina.

Matthew Savoie, Chase Bertholet and Jakin Smallwood rounded out the attack for Winnipeg (3-0-0).

Zack Stringer and Drew Englot each had a power-play goal for the Pats (2-1-0). —
