Stevens scores twice, Abbotsford Canucks defeat Gulls 5-3 for 2nd straight win

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – John Stevens carried the offence with two goals and one assist to propel the Abbotsford Canucks to a 5-3 win over the San Diego Gulls in the American Hockey League Saturday.

Yushiroh Hirano and Ashton Sautner scored their first goals of the season, and Will Lockwood completed the scoring for the Canucks (13-12-3-1). Noah Juulsen had three assists and goaltender Joe Murdaca made 13 saves.

Kodie Curran, with his first of the season, Lucas Elvenes and Alex Limoges scored for the Gulls (13-14-2-0), which saw their three-game win streak come to an end. Elvenes added two assists. Francis Marotte stopped 27-of-32 shots.

Abbotsford doubled up San Diego’s shots, 32-16.

Both teams went 1 for 5 on the power play.
