After trailing all night, the Winnipeg Jets (41-14-3) tied the game in the final minute and beat the San Jose Sharks (15-36-8) 2-1 in overtime on Monday night at Canada Life Center. Josh Morrissey and Mark Scheifele scored for the Jets, while Connor Hellebuyck made 16 saves.

William Eklund scored the lone goal for the Sharks and Vitek Vanecek, who was brilliant in net, made 33 saves.

Eklund opened the scoring at 15:07 of the first period on the power play, with a shot from the right circle, past Hellebuyck.
In the first period, the Jets outshot the Sharks 10-6 and went 0-for-1 on the power play, while the Sharks went 1-for-2 with the man advantage.
The Jets continued to carry the play as the game went on, but could not beat Vanecek, who eventually was rewarded with the first star of the game. In the second period, the Jets outshot the Sharks once again, this time 10-8. The Sharks went 0-for-2 on the PP in the period, while the Jets went 0-for-1 for the second straight period.

After pushing all third period, the Jets finally broke through, as Morrissey tied the game with 26 seconds left, with a slap shot from the left circle.
Scheifele sent the fans home happy at 1:33 of the extra period, pouncing on a rebound in front of the net. That goal was Scheifele’s 329th of his career, moving him past Ilya Kovalchuk for first in Atlanta Thrashers and Jets history.
