Blackhawks sign defenseman Holm

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed defenseman Philip Holm to a one-year, two-way contract.

Holm, 27, returns to North America after spending last season with Nizhny Novgorod in the KHL, collecting 26 points in 61 games.

A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Holm played 63 games in the AHL with the Utica Comets and Chicago Wolves during the 2017-18 season, totaling 12 goals and 26 assists for 38 points. He ranked ninth among all AHL defensemen in scoring.

Holm also made his NHL debut that season, skating for Vancouver in a game against Vegas on Feb. 23, 2018.
