Bruins sign Petrovic to one-year deal

The Boston Bruins have signed defenseman Alex Petrovic to a one-year, two-way contract.

He has been placed on waivers for the purposes of assignment to the AHL’s Providence Bruins.

Petrovic, 27, skated in 35 NHL games between Florida and Edmonton last season, totaling two assists. In 263 career NHL contests with the Panthers and Oilers, he has totaled five goals and 45 assists for 50 points.

A second-round pick by Florida in the 2010 NHL Draft, Petrovic has appeared in 144 regular-season games in the AHL (all with San Antonio), tallying nine goals and 42 assists for 51 points. He represented the Rampage at the AHL All-Star Classic in 2015.

Petrovic has also skated in 12 Calder Cup Playoff games, notching two goals and five assists. In six Stanley Cup Playoff contests, he has registered one goal and three assists.
