The best reactions to Lightning vs. Blue Jackets: the NHL’s fourth-longest game ever

The NHL’s fourth-ever longest game ended with a power play, a slew of blocked shots, and a tired, pinpoint shot from the Tampa Bay Lightning’s Brayden Point.

Point and the Lightning beat the Columbus Blue Jackets in “quintuple overtime” by a score of 3-2, ending the game after more than 150 minutes of playing time.

The game was so long — and the NHL’s venues so few — that the Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes tilt scheduled for immediately afterwards had to be pushed to Wednesday.

Records were also smashed during the game: Columbus’s Joonas Korpisalo set the record for most saves in a playoff game with 85, posting a .966 save percentage in the game. And Seth Jones, who was on the ice for 65:06, set the record for most ice time in a playoff game.

The Canes’ Twitter account was active throughout the night, even poking fun at the Lightning by referencing the latter’s untimely, surprise exit from the playoffs last year:
