WHL Roundup: Ridly Greig lifts Wheat Kings over Raiders for another win

REGINA – Ridly Greig scored the winning goal and tacked on an assist as the Brandon Wheat Kings downed the Prince Albert Raiders 3-2 on Monday in Western Hockey League play.

Greig broke a 2-2 tie with a short-handed goal at 9:27 of the third period to help Brandon extend its win streak to seven games.

Jake Chiasson and Nolan Ritchie also found the back of the net for the Wheat Kings (10-2-1), who got 31 saves from Ethan Kruger.

Justin Nachbaur had a pair of goals for the Raiders (4-7-2), while Max Paddock stopped 22-of-25 shots.

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. — Sean Tschigerl struck twice in regulation, Riley Fiddler-Schultz had three helpers, and Riley Stotts produced the shootout winner as Calgary (6-6-2) halted the Tigers’ (9-4-0) win streak at five games.

RED DEER, Alta. — Dylan Guenther, Kaid Oliver and Jalen Luypen all scored twice and Logan Dowhaniuk tacked on two assists as Edmonton (12-1-0) picked up its third consecutive win by toppling the struggling Rebels (2-9-2), who have lost six in a row.

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Trent Miner stopped all 30 shots his way for the shutout and Justin Lies potted a goal before picking up a major penalty and getting ejected for hitting from behind, and Vancouver (4-1-0) blanked the Blazers (4-1-0) for its fourth straight win.

WARRIORS 4 PATS 3 (SO)

REGINA — Kade Runke and Josh Hoekstra scored 23 seconds apart and Jagger Firkus completed the comeback with the shootout winner as Moose Jaw (6-6-1) erased a 3-0 third-period deficit to beat the Pats (4-6-3) for its second straight win following a six-game winless streak.
