Flames forward Nazem Kadri donates $1 million to London, Ont., health centre

LONDON, Ont. – Calgary Flames forward Nazem Kadri has donated $1 million to the London Health Sciences Foundation.

The donation will support the ambulatory surgical centre at London Health Sciences Centre in western Ontario. The centre will now be named the Nazem Kadri Surgical Centre in the NHLer’s honour.

“It is because of Nazem Kadri’s transformational gift that world-class innovation is made possible, right here in London,” said John MacFarlane, president & CEO at LHSF. “This gift is just the beginning of what is possible at the Nazem Kadri Surgical Centre.”

Kadri, who is from London, Ont., won the Stanley Cup last season with the Colorado Avalanche before signing with Calgary as a free agent.

Now in its second year, the newly named Nazem Kadri Surgical Centre gives patients in need of less complex, low-risk surgeries with an alternative operating location outside of the hospital.

Patients that are deemed low risk by their surgeon can have foot procedures, ankle, hip and knee arthroscopies and ACL repairs performed at the Nazem Kadri Surgical Centre. Over 3,800 patients have received care at the centre in the two years since its founding.
