Marchessault scores hat trick for Golden Knights in 5-2 win over ousted Oilers

EDMONTON – The Vegas Golden Knights have eliminated the Edmonton Oilers from Stanley Cup contention with a 5-2 win tonight at Rogers Place.

The Golden Knights take the best-of-seven Pacific Division final four games to two.

Jonathan Marchessault scored a hat trick for Vegas, which will meet the winner of the series between the Dallas Stars and Seattle Kraken in the Western Conference final.

Game 7 of that series is Monday.

The Oilers did not advance as far in the post-season as they did last year, when Edmonton reached the conference final and lost to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche.

More coming.
