Marlies sweep away Monsters, improve to 7-0

The Toronto Marlies are returning to the Eastern Conference Finals after a 6-2 victory over the Cleveland Monsters on Tuesday night.

The Marlies (7-0) finished off their second consecutive series sweep and are off to the conference finals for the fifth time in the last eight seasons, where they will meet either Charlotte or Hershey.

Toronto spotted Cleveland a 2-0 lead early in Game 4 before scoring six unanswered goals, including four in less than nine minutes in the second period. Mason Marchment and Trevor Moore each scored twice in that span.

Michael Carcone scored two goals in the third period for the Marlies. Vincent LoVerde finished with three assists, and Jeremy Bracco and Timothy Liljegren had two assists each for the Marlies.

Kasimir Kaskisuo made 23 saves, finishing the series with seven goals against on 114 shots (1.75, .939).

Trey Fix-Wolansky notched a goal and an assist for his first two professional points, and Zac Dalpe added a power-play marker for the Monsters.

Toronto has won six consecutive Calder Cup Playoff series — four of them via sweep — and has gone 22-5 in 27 games since the start of the 2018 postseason.
