NHL Rumors: Oilers, Puljujarvi and Gauthier … Devils and Hall

Jesse Puljujarvi is warming to the idea of staying in Finland all season

Sportsnet: Edmonton Oilers restricted free agent Jesse Puljujarvi is starting to get comfortable with the idea of playing all season in Finland according to Chris Johnston.

“Obviously the Oilers might have a decision to make for what’s best for them, as they get closer to the Dec. 1 deadline where he has to be traded and signed if he’s gonna play in the NHL this year.”

Oilers interested in Julien Gauthier?

Kurt Leavins of the Edmonton Journal: Speculation continues that the Edmonton Oilers could be interested in Carolina Hurricanes forward Julien Gauthier. Gauthier was drafted in the first round of the 2016 draft – the same draft as Puljujarvi. Gauthier remains waiver exempt.

Teams could start checking in on the Devils plans for Taylor Hall

Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman said that with the New Jersey Devils slow start to the season, teams could start calling them about the potential availability of pending unrestricted forward Taylor Hall.

“I think a lot of people are starting to wonder how patient are the Devils going to be with Taylor Hall who is, of course, the big fish in the free agent pond at the end of the year,” said Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman during the Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada. “I think the answer is this is way too soon to start asking.

“I do think teams might start calling saying ‘what are your plans? What are you thinking out here if you can’t get him signed?’ … I just don’t think we’re at a point yet where New Jersey is really looking to say, even though Ray Shero is a pretty unafraid guy, that we’re putting him out there.”
