Bears complete climb, clinch playoff spot

By virtue of Lehigh Valley’s 10-6 victory over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Sunday afternoon, the Hershey Bears have clinched a berth in the 2019 Calder Cup Playoffs.

The Bears, who began the season with five straight losses and had the worst record in the 31-team AHL on the morning of Dec. 21, are 25-5-3-2 in their last 35 games.

The oldest franchise in the league, Hershey has won 11 Calder Cups (most recently in 2010) and reached 23 Finals series (most recently in 2016).

The AHL’s 2018-19 regular season ends April 14; for more information and daily updates on the Calder Cup Playoff races, check out the official AHL Playoff Primer.
