Wolves prevail in double OT, even series

AHL MVP Daniel Carr scored 6:01 into double overtime to give Chicago a 2-1 victory over San Diego in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals on Friday night.

Knotted at two games apiece, the teams skate in Game 5 of the series Saturday night in San Diego (10 ET, AHLTV).

Carr took a pass from T.J. Tynan, carried the puck into the offensive zone and snapped a shot from between the hash marks that beat Kevin Boyle, giving the Wolves their second OT win of the series.

Oscar Dansk (8-5) stopped 40 of 41 shots on the night for Chicago, including all 20 he faced in sudden-death overtime.

Following a scoreless opening period, Chicago won a battle along the boards and Griffin Reinhart wired a shot from the slot past Boyle (3-1) to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead at 4:18 of the second.

San Diego was outshot 31-12 over the first two periods, but finally found the back of the net 3:36 into the third as Justin Kloos wristed a shot home from between the circles, making it 1-1.

Boyle finished with 42 saves in the loss.

Attendance at Pechanga Arena San Diego was 12,147, largest for an AHL playoff game since the clinching Game 4 of the 2016 Calder Cup Finals in Cleveland (19,665).
