Senators add Carcone in trade with Leafs

The Ottawa Senators have acquired defenseman Nikita Zaitsev, forward Connor Brown and forward Michael Carcone from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for defenseman Cody Ceci, defenseman Ben Harpur, forward Aaron Luchuk and a third-round selection in the 2020 NHL Draft.

Carcone, 23, was acquired by the Maple Leafs from Vancouver on Dec. 3, 2018. He set career highs with 20 goals, 24 assists and 44 points in 62 regular-season AHL games between Utica and Toronto in 2018-19.

During the Calder Cup Playoffs, Carcone tallied six goals and four assists in 13 games, including a hat trick in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals vs. Charlotte.

Entering his fourth professional season, Carcone has appeared in 191 AHL games, collecting 40 goals and 49 assists for 89 points.

Luchuk, 22, appeared in 27 AHL games with Belleville during his rookie season in 2018-19, recording four goals and five assists.
