Mario Kempe joins brother with Kings

The Los Angeles Kings have signed forward Mario Kempe to a one-year, two-way contract.

Kempe, 30, joins his younger brother Adrian in the Kings organization.

A native of Kramfors, Sweden, Kempe notched four goals and five assists in 52 NHL games with the Arizona Coyotes in 2018-19. He also recorded five goals and six assists for 11 points in 10 AHL games with the Tucson Roadrunners.

Kempe has appeared in 62 career AHL games with Tucson and Philadelphia, notching 23 goals and 25 assists for 48 points. He made his North American debut with the Phantoms late in the 2008-09 season before returning to Europe, where he played in Sweden and Russia for eight years before joining the Coyotes organization in 2017.

Kempe has appeared in 70 NHL games with Arizona, totaling six goals and seven assists for 13 points.
