Hurricanes sign McCormick to one-year deal

The Carolina Hurricanes have signed forward Max McCormick to a one-year, two-way deal.

McCormick, 27, skated in 45 AHL games between the Belleville Senators and the Colorado Eagles in 2018-19, totaling nine goals and 11 assists for 20 points. He also registered one goal in 14 NHL contests with Ottawa.

Entering his sixth pro season, McCormick has played 279 regular-season games in the AHL with Colorado, Belleville and Binghamton, recording 63 goals and 70 assists for 133 points. He made his playoff debut in 2019, appearing in two games for the Eagles.

McCormick was a sixth-round choice by Ottawa in the 2011 NHL Draft and has totaled six goals and four assists in 71 career NHL games, all with the Senators.
