Reign sign defenseman Stanton

The Ontario Reign have signed defenseman Ryan Stanton to an AHL contract for the 2019-20 season.

Stanton skated in 65 regular-season games with the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors last season, recording five goals and 15 assists for 20 points. His five goals and plus-20 rating were both career highs. Stanton also notched two goals and an assist in 10 postseason games with the Condors.

Entering his 10th pro season, Stanton has appeared in 443 career AHL games with Bakersfield, San Antonio, Cleveland, Hershey and Rockford, totaling 22 goals and 94 assists for 116 points as well as a plus-77 rating. He has eight points (3g, 5a) in 33 postseason games and reached the Calder Cup Finals with Hershey in 2016.

A native of St. Albert, Alta., Stanton has played 120 games in the NHL with Chicago, Vancouver and Washington, notching four goals and 23 assists for 27 points.
