Kings injury notes

Jon Rosen: Los Angeles Kings GM Rob Blake said that Gabriel Vilardi won’t be on the ice during training camp.

Vilardi “is progressing in his rehab” and is “farther along in rehab than any part in last 12 months.”

John Hoven: Vilardi will be at the camp but he won’t be taking part in any of their on-ice activities.

Dennis Bernstein:  Blake said that defenseman Paul LaDue likely won’t be ready for the start of training camp. He is still recovering from a knee procedure.

Defenseman Derek Forbort is bothered by a back issue and won’t be ready for the start of camp.

Toffoli entering the final year of his contract

Dennis Bernstein: The Kings are in no rush to signing forward Tyler Toffoli who is entering the final year of his deal.

Blake said that something will work itself out later in the year.

Bernstein that there is no guarantee that they will reach an extension, even if he has a strong start to the season.

John Hoven: Don’t expect the Kings to bring Toffoli back. The best case scenario for the Kings would be if he had a strong start to the season and they traded him at the deadline.

If offering a contract, they shouldn’t offer more than two or three years. He would get five to seven years if he went to free agency.

Doubtful the Kings would trade Brown

John Hoven: Blake said that he spoke a lot with forward Dustin Brown this past offseason.

There is going to be lots of changes over the next few years, but doesn’t see a scenario that Blake would trade Brown.

Blake won’t say much with regards to UFA Hutton

Dennis Bernstein: Blake brushed off the question about the possibility of signing free agent defenseman Ben Hutton.

Jon Rosen: Blake said that they had looked at Hutton early in the free agent process. doesn’t believe that they gave Hutton an extended look.
