Berdin makes 31 saves, Manitoba Moose take 2-1 shootout win over Texas Stars

WINNIPEG – Leon Gawanke finally put away the game winner following an extended shootout and the Manitoba Moose collected a 2-1 win over the Texas Stars in American Hockey League play on Sunday.

Gawanke scored in the 12th round of the shootout and Moose goalie Mikhail Berdin stopped Nicholas Caamano on the next attempt to clinch the victory.

Ty Dellandrea opened the scoring for Texas (12-15-7) with a power-play goal 10:50 into the first period.

Manitoba’s Mikey Eyssimont scored 10:05 into the third to force extra time.

Both sides got solid performances from their netminders, with Berdin stopping 31 shots for Manitoba (24-11-3) and Adam Scheel making 34 saves for Texas.

The Stars were 1 for 4 with the man advantage and the Moose went scoreless on three power plays.
